Chives – Allium Schoenoprasum

  • Culinary use

    Chives have a delicate onion-like scent and are used to add to flavour to salads and vegetable soups, to flavour meat and to season soft cheeses and sauces.

    Chive leaves are often used as a decorative way to tie up pastry rolls and other types of wraps.

  • Medicinal use

    Chive based essential oil is an excellent cure for acne, insect bites, burns and chapped skin. This is a versatile herb with marked diuretic properties as well as being a highly efficient treatment of vasodilatory, hypersensitivity, revulsive and digestive disorders together with healing scars and acting as a laxative and emollient.
